Conclusion

This cadbury ad is an effective way to sell a product because the ad is engaging to viewers and grabs their attention. It grabs their attention becuase the ad is creative and unique.It’s such a pompous piece of music and the thrashing of the gorilla is so self-absorbed that the effect is hilarious. It’s short-form comedy just like one of those funny clips you see on YouTube. But it seems to have precious little to do with chocolate.

The Magicians Elephant Book Review

The Magicians Elephat was written by Kate DiCamillo. In this highly awaited new novel, Kate DiCamillo conjures a haunting fable about trusting the unexpected — and making the extraordinary come true. The Magician's Elephant engages the reader from the first sentence. While the novel is filled with intriguing and unusual characters, it is the story that is all important. And the story of The Magician's Elephant is full of questions. The genre of the novel is fantasy fiction. The inteaded target audeince of the novel is 10-12 year olds.

Peter is a 10-year-old boy, an orphan training for a life as a soldier. When his master sends him to the market with a coin to buy bread, Peter makes an impulsive decision and spends the coin at a fortune teller's booth instead. He asks about his sister - is she living and how can he find her? - but the fortune teller's advice is preposterous. She tells him to follow the elephant. But no one Peter knows has ever even seen an elephant. When the magician "accidentally" brings an elephant crashing through the roof, crushing the legs of one of the fine ladies in the audience, Peter sees a glimmer of hope. And things will come together in a truly magical way.

The Magician's Elephant is a magical tale. It's one of those calm, influential books, every word chosen cautiously. It's terribly sad, but also happy and optimistic. I think this will be a book that you either adore or you don't. At its most ambitious, it’s also a haunting analogy of belonging—whether man or beast, rich or poor, beggar or countess, we all just want to be home, to be loved, to belong. DiCamillo's writing creates a level of tension that keeps the tale from being stale.

In conclusion i think the tale of The Magicians's Elephant is a suitable novel for 10-12 year olds as it provides them with a sense of direction in life and motivates them to do the impossible just like Peter in the novel did. I personally think that this book is fantastic to read and you won't be able to put it down. I look forward to when the kids read it, just so i can get their opinions on the book becuase i firmly believe that it will be entertaining for them.

Target Audience

The cadbury ad is aimed at everyone but most importantly 8-12 year olds kids. The cadbury ad was released just before the school holidays which effectively gained sales as it persuaded parents to buy chocolate for their children in the holidays. The product itself (chocolate cadbury) tells me that it is for everyone but mainly children because they enjoy it more and seem to be more interested in eating it. Another feature includes the gorrilla suit which provides comic relief, the playing of the drums is very creative and unique.

AIDA deconstruction

Attention: As soon as the commercial begins our attentions are drawn to the gorilla seated behind the drum sets. This is a very persuasive and effective symbol to grab our attention because it is creative and unique.

Interest: The drum solo played by the gorilla in time with the song "In the air tonight" by Phill Collins. The background is also interesting as it grabs our attention with their brand colours. The gorilla is however the main focal point in this ad as it provides us with comic relief and immediately grabs out interests.

Desire: To discover the source and find out what the ad is actually about. It’s got no relevance to chocolate but it’s got everything Cadbury stands for. Desire is usually provoked in one or more of three possible ways ; people enjoying themselves, people looking happy/refreshed/more confident, using the product.

Action: How to eliminate the common problem which is to buy cadbury chocolate.

Why is it such an effective marketing tool?

Cadbury, leading Australian manufacturer of milk chocolate who definitely aren't afraid of being creative when it comes to their marketing efforts, recently released a new advertisement to add to their already creative marketing campaign. To put it simply, it's a gorilla playing drums with a purple and white background that matches their branding. Who could forget an ad like this? It’s memorable, it’s branded, it’s utterly unique and everyone loves the theme music – not to mention the big cute gorilla! This cadbury ad is a fine piece of creative advertising which gives their business the edge it needs to succeed. This type of marketing can drop you into a niche market (whether by accident or by plan) or could even further enhance your current market position by giving you that unique look that you’ve been after for so long. The cadbury ad uses extremely unique and utterly obscure imagery to get their message across and combining that with popular viral marketing techniques to get the message out there. Such techniques include, the gorilla playing the drums which represents the " big lie" that cadbury are putting out there. In addition to this the colours of the background are purple and black which matches their branding.

Purpose of the advertisement

A creative video using a classic song to associate with viewers, and simply using a Gorilla playing the drums in time with the music. Creating a sense of bliss or happiness. Finishing the ad with the slogan 'A glass and a half full of joy'.The purpose is the need to create stronger brand recognition and recall.

Introduction

The purpose for this blog being created is so that i can analyse and evaluate an advertisment which is aimed at 12 year old kids. In this case i will be studying the cadbury ad featuring the gorrila. Cadbury is one of the largest chocolate producers in the world.Chocolate accounts for more than 57 per cent of all confectionery sales in Australia with an annual retail value of over $1.7 billion. Cadbury is the biggest player in chocolate confectionery in Australia, with market leadership in chocolate and total confectionery.
